Saravi

I had the privilege of recording Saravi @soul_walk.healing this week at his teacher's in Austin Tower in TST. It was a very quiet, soft, and welcoming space. Saravi started learning sound baths in 2019 after his teacher recommended him to explore different things as a way to broaden his understanding in himself and his journey. He seldomly advertises his sound baths usually having private sessions when requested.

During the course of this project, I have slowly been recording more people that only hold private sound baths or do it just for themselves. I feel there is an air of freedom in their sessions, perhaps because a burden of performing or expectation is not there. There is this feeling of experimentation and discovery that is not totally felt from public sessions. It is refreshing.

Saravi had a set of large white crystal bowls and his style was dynamic, playing with tempo and note combinations. His rhythms were abstract sometimes striking several bowls in a fast sequence then slowing down to let them ring before starting another phrase.

We recorded two tracks that afternoon, each one having its own intention. The first, shorter one had the intention of giving energy back to the earth. It was a cleansing sound bath full of thick rim washes and high tone strikes. The second, longer one was to give energy to the trapped spirits to set them free. It had amazing fast rhythms and repetitive sequences. I was under his spell during the second recording nodding off and losing track of time. He could have kept me under indefinitely had I not stopped him.
